Pogo gets his Group win

Horses like Pogo don’t come along very often, and for him to get his very much deserved group win in the John O’Gaunt at Haydock was a huge deal for everyone involved. He just loves being a racehorse and has been operating at the big meetings since his two year old days, giving his owners the Woodward family some great days out. It’s also a testament to his appetite for the game that he has come back as good as ever after a particularly unpleasant experience on the dirt in Dubai. The look on his face when he came back in covered in a lot of the track said ‘don’t ever make me do that again’! We were really using this race as a stepping stone to the Criterion Stakes at Newmarket as he’d only done a couple of bits of work prior to the Haydock race, so he’s slightly thrown a spanner in the works by winning it. However we will look at all the options over 7 furlongs, and possibly races like the Sussex Stakes on a track we know he likes. He could also be seen in France as there are options over there. Wherever he goes the best thing about Pogo is we know he’ll be doing his best.
